The Groupon Apology

Via TechCrunch:

The CEO of Groupon, a social coupon website, uses Youtube to apologize to the entire nation of Japan about a business that couldn’t handle the volume that Groupon sent their way. Watch the video here. By showing that even a small failure does not get past the CEO, Groupon has positioned itself as a likable corporation with a human face, not just a logo. Would your customers recognize you on the street?

New Battlefields for Competition

I read two articles today that I’d like to share. The first article shows how easy it is to challenge long held leaders in an industry. TRVL magazine on the iPad is now competing with long time leaders in the magazine industry like the Wall Street Journal and Newsweek. You can read the article here.

The second article I read is about which industries are expected to rebound in 2011. You can read the article here. Technology, automotive, travel, and luxury goods are all expected to rebound this year due to their inherent need to innovate to compete.

When you combine the knowledge gained by reading both articles, there is one point that is abundantly clear, opportunities are here to jump ahead of your competition. At MyHomesMedia we think that one of those opportunities is video marketing. Brand yourself effectively as the leader or the expert in your industry, and you ARE the leader or expertin your industry.

Get paid to market yourself

I know that the headline to this article sounds like a cheesy infomercial pitch, but hear me out. If you have content that people would pay to access, http://tinyletter.com allows you to charge a monthly fee for access to your email marketing. You could use this for your financial advice, political news, or industry gossip. What better way to present that premium content than in high definition video? Click here to see an example of how this is being done effectively. Email us at info@myhomesmedia.com to find out if this is a potentialy effective tool in your marketing arsenal….
