Effective social networking rules for Facebook – 101

Here are a few of my rules for using Facebook to market your service effectively.

  • Posting frequency: 2-3 posts per week. This is my sweet spot for not getting hidden as spam. If you post too often, users get tired of it clogging up their feed and “hit the X”, blocking all future posts.
  • Use Video!!! When you embed media in to your posts, your followers can then re-post it to their feeds, spreading your message for you. (Ask us about our social media packages)
  • Link with your clients pages. Not only is it a courtesy, it’s a good way of increasing traffic for both parties.
  • Always be positive!!! I make it a rule to post everything to my feeds with a smile. The tone of your social networking is the face of your business.
  • Treat your social message like an employee. Would you want an employee saying that to a customer? Use proper grammar. Do not use internet acronyms like lol, smh, roflmdaoasm.
  • Incentives Incentives Incentives!!! Can your business do “Facebook fans only” deals?

Take a snow day

Stuck at home because of the snow? Why not take this down time to evaluate how you are marketing yourself, and how your branding is affecting your business. Here are a few simple tips on how to see if you are on the right track.

  • Do an internet search for your service. Try to be vague in your keywords. Do you come up on the first page?
  • Steal from the best. Look at how the leaders in your industry are marketing themselves.
  • If you are a localized service, try doing a search for your business on the state level, county level, and city level. Can you jump ahead your competition by key wording yourself in to a different city?
  • Search Youtube for videos of what you do. Is your industry already embracing video?
